Olympiacos came up short against Europe’s best basketball team, CSKA Moscow, falling 75-81 at the Stadio Eirinis kai Filias. Printezis led Olympiacos with 24-points, but it was not enough as the hosts were handed their second defeat of the season.
Olympiacos was behind 21-25 at the end of the first quarter and a dominating second quarter from CSKA, outscored Olympiacos 7-19, gave the Russian side a comfortable 16-point lead at halftime. In the third quarter, CSKA increased their advantage to as many as 17-points but Olympiacos did not give up and in the fourth quarter chipped away at CSKA’s lead. Olympiacos was within 4-points (73-77) with under a minute remaining but the Erythrolefki were unable to get a defensive rebound and complete the comeback as CSKA went on to win 75-81.
Giorgos Printezis was on a tremendous night scoring 24-points and getting 7 rebounds for Olympiacos while Spanoulis followed with 14-points and 5 assists. De Colo was the leading scorer for the European Champions finishing the game with 23-points and 9 rebounds.
After today’s loss Olympiacos goes to 3-2 in the Euroleague season while CSKA Moscow remains the only undefeated team at 5-0.
