OFI pulled off the surprise result of the day as they came back to defeat Panathinaikos 2-1 in Crete. Berg opened the scoring in the 31st minute before two second half goals saw OFI claim all three points.

OFI hosted Panathinaikos at a rainy and muddy “Yedi Kule” Stadium for the second Matchday of group play in the Greek Cup. Despite the awful playing conditions on the pitch, Panathinaikos was able to take the lead in the 31st minute with Berg’s well-placed shot in the bottom corner.

In the second half, the hosts increased their pressure and with the support from the home fans were able to pull off the surprising comeback. In the 68th minute, OFI was awarded a penalty for Kotsolis’ foul on Vouo and from the spot, Chante brought OFI level. Six minutes from time, Ogboe was played in behind the Panathinaikos defense and dribbled passed Kotsolis (wrongly came off his line) pushing the ball into the open net to give OFI the 2-1 victory.

Panathinaikos now sits bottom of the group standings with one point from two games and is on the brink of elimination . The Trifylli will need to defeat Apollon Smyrnis in Rizoupolis on the final Matchday to keep their hopes alive for progressing to the next round.  However, if the other group fixture between OFI and Iraklis ends in a draw, Panathinaikos will be mathematically eliminated from the competition, regardless of their result against Apollon Smyrnis
