After Katerina Stefanidis won the gold medal in the women’s Pole-vault, Greece celebrates another medal at the European Athletics Championships in Amsterdam. Voula Papachristou won the bronze medal in the women’s triple-jump with a jump registered at 14.47 meters. It is Greece’s second medal at this year’s European Championships.

Papachristou registered 5 successful jumps over 14 meters (14.31, 14.45, 14.15, 14.00, 14.14) before her winning jump of 14.47 meters on her 6th and final attempt. The Greek athlete was unlucky as Hanna Minenko jumped 14.51 meters on her final attempt to steal the silver medal from Papachristou. Minenko had 5 foul attempts before her winning jump. The gold medal went to Portuguese athlete Patricia Mamona, who jumped 14.58 meters.

Papachristou won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Poland this year. After another good showing, she will hope for another medal at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.
