Goals from Aly Cissokho and Dimitris Nikolaou gave Olympiacos a 2-0 win over Aris and a place in the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup. Olympiacos won the two legged series 3-1 on aggregate.

After a 1-1 draw in the first leg away to Aris, Olympiacos were the favorites to qualify for the quarterfinals of the Greek Cup. Paulo Bento gave playing time to many of the club’s youngsters and new January transfers in today’s second leg match at the Karaiskaki Stadium.

The first half was played at a slow pace as the teams went into the break goalless. The hosts got off to a great start in the second half when Olympiacos “new boy” Cissokho found the back of the net from close range. The goal gave Olympiacos full control of the aggregate score and they comfortably held onto the lead. With four minutes remaining, the 18-year old Dimitris Nikolaou headed the ball passed Anagnostopoulos (from Seba’s corner), giving Olympiacos the 2-0 win on the night and 3-1 on aggregate.

The Erythrolefki will meet Atromitos in the quarterfinals of the competition while Aris put all their efforts to gain promotion to next year’s Superleague.
