Atromitos held Olympiacos to a goalless draw on Sa Pinto’s debut as manager of the club. Both teams wasted tremendous chances to walk away with the win.

Although Olympiacos and Atromitos finished in a goalless draw in their Greek Cup quarter-final clash, it was an entertaining match at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. Both teams failed to convert golden opportunities into goals, which would have proved beneficial before their second leg clash at the Peristeri Stadium.

Olympiacos “big” summer signing Oscar Cardozo continued his goal drought as he blew Olympiacos’ best chance of the match in the 24th minute, with his effort coming off of his knee and hitting the post to stay out. The Erythrolefki saw most of the ball during the 90 minutes of play and had more opportunities than the visitors, but Gorbunov was their to deny Olympiacos and keep the clean sheet.

Atromitos came extremely close to stealing the win in the 83rd minute when Kivrakidis’ pin point pass found Le Tallec in front of goal, but his effort from a great position went well wide. Despite the wasted chance, Atromitos and new manager Sa Pinto will be happy with the 0-0 draw on the road.

The result keeps the tie open before the two teams meet in the second leg in three week’s time. Olympiaco will now turn their attention to their Superleague match over the weekend before they return to European play when they host Osmanlispor next Thursday for the UEFA Europa League Round of 32.
