-- Panagiotis Retsos...The Youngest Olympiacos Captain In Club History --

It was a special day for Panagiotis Retsos and Olympiacos on Wednesday as the 18-year old became the youngest “captain” in the club’s history. Retsos wore the captain's armband in Olympiacos’ Greek Cup fixture against Atromitos.

In Wednesday’s cup fixture between Olympiacos and Atromitos, Paulo Bento gave the captain’s armband to Panagiotis Retsos. The Greek youngster, who has been given lots of playing time by the Portuguese manager this season, became the youngest captain in the club’s history (in ALL sports) at the age of 18 years, 5 months, and 30 days (born on August 9, 1998).

The previous record was held by Menelaos Kokkinakis when he was appointed Olympiacos Volleyball captain at the age of 21 in a match against Austrian side Posojilnica.

Paulo Bento has put his full trust in Olympiacos’ youngsters this season as he displayed the youngest Olympiacos Starting XI in history during the club’s Superleague encounter away to Veria in Matchday 18. The starting XI had an average age of 23.3 years.
