On Thursday, Panathinaikos completed their 7th signing of the summer with Argentine striker Andres Chavez, who will lead the Prasini’s attacking line for the new season. Chavez signed a 3-year contract with the Athenian club transferring over from Argentina and Boca Juniors.

Chavez began his career with Banfield where he played from 2010-2014 scoring 34 goals in 92 appearances. In 2014, he made a big career jump to his beloved Boca Juniors where he remained for 2.5 years, making 37 appearances with 8 goals. Although he was a fan favorite, he was loaned out to Sao Paolo in 2016 where he scored nine goals in 30 appearances.

He will continue his career with Panathinaikos with hopes of writing his name in the club's history books as he will be the replacement of former captain and goal scoring machine, Marcus Berg, who departed the Trifylli this summer for the United Arab Emirates.

Chavez will wear Berg’s #9 and will quickly be integrated into the roster. He is expected to make his first appearance this weekend in the Superleague in Panathinaikos’ opener against Platanias. The 26-year old will also be available for Panathinaikos’ return leg in Europa League qualifying against Athletic Bilbao on Thursday.
