The Israeli international fell unlucky in the final moments at the Karaiskaki stadium as he became a victim of the much feared torn ACL injury. In the last play of the game, Altman cleared the ball from Panathinaikos’ penalty area and landed badly, resulting in what was diagnosed as a torn ACL in his right knee.

Altman is the second Panathinaikos player to go down to an ACL injury this season after Brazilian midfielder, Luciano, suffered a similar fate in September in a Cup fixture against Larissa. Altman will miss the remaining six games of the season and the first part of next season. The 24-year old will undergo surgery on Thursday and will likely be sidelined for six months.

The injury is a severe blow to Ouzounidis and his team, who are already under strength since the winter budget cuts and departure of many main players (Hult, Villafanez, Moledo) in January.
