Apollon Limassol gained a slight advantage over Midtjylland in their first encounter in the Europa League playoffs after the Cypriots defeated their opponents 3-2 in Limassol. Kyriakou opened the scoring with a rocket in the 15th minute before Sorloth equalized with a header before the halftime break. Jander put Apollon ahead in 70th minute, however Midtjylland quickly responded with Sorloth scoring his second goal of the night five minutes later. The Limassol side had the last laugh as Pittas gave the hosts the win in second half stoppage time and they will take a slight advantage to Denmark in next week’s second leg matchup.

AEK Larnaka got off to a great start away to Viktoria Plzen in their first encounter in the Europa League playoffs when Acoran found the back of the net just eight minutes after the opening whistle. Trochowski wasted two great chances for the visitors to increase their lead but his efforts in the 16th and 34th minutes went astray. Despite falling behind, the Czech side responded with Bakos in the 29th minute and six minutes later, Kollar gave the hosts a 2-1 lead. Bakos added his second of the night, scoring from the spot in the 70th minute to give Plzen a 2-goal advantage before next week's second leg in Cyprus.
