AEK published this following post on Friday afternoon:

“AEK FC announces the loan signing of Ognjen Vranjes from RSC Anderlecht of Belgium.

Ognjen, welcome back home!”

The Athenians also confirmed that the Bosnian centre-back will wear the number 21 on his back:

Anderlecht had already announced that Vranjes will be loaned to AEK for the one year:

Reports have suggested that AEK do not have a purchase option.

Last summer, Vranjes transferred to Anderlecht from AEK for three million euros, but the transfer didn’t go to plan for the fiery 29-year-old. Vranjes became involved in a sex scandal with well-known Serbian singer Jelena Karleusa, and after the situation escalated, the centre-back was ostracized from both Anderlecht and the Bosnian national team.

Vranjes only made 14 appearances for Anderlecht in the 2018/2019 season. He had previously played a large role in AEK’s triumphant Super League campaign a year earlier.

SIMAO, GERALDES AND DELETIC TRANSFERS IMMINENT

According to various media sources, Portuguese midfielder David Simao is set to arrive in Athens no later than Saturday, with AEK having agreed on a fee of 400,000 euros to sign him from Royal Antwerp. Simao, 29, will pen a three-year contract with the Kitrinomavri.

Simao, a versatile midfielder able to compete in a central role or on the left flank, progressed through the ranks at Benfica. Since then, Simao has played for Fatima, Paços de Ferreira, Académica, Marítimo, Arouca, CSKA Sofia, Boavista and Antwerp. In January, Simao transferred to Antwerp from Boavista, but he only played in four Jupiler League games.

On Monday, fellow Portuguese midfielder Francisco Geraldes will finalise his loan deal from Sporting Lisbon, and AEL winger Milos Deletic will also join.

Deletic, who caught the eye with several impressive displays for AEL in the Super League, has come to terms with AEK to join them on a free transfer from Larissa. Most comfortable on the left wing, the 25-year-old Serbian tallied five goals and three assists with AEL in the 2018/2019 Super League. He initially signed for Larissa in July 2016.
