The last time AEK came from behind to win a league fixture was in last season’s away fixture to Olympiacos on February 4th, 2018. Then, the Erythrolefki took the lead in the 81st minute with a powerful right-footed strike from Karim Ansarifard, however AEK scored twice within seven minutes to shock the Piraeus club. Dmytro Chygrynski equalized with a left-footed half-volley in the 87th minute and Georgios Giakoumakis tapped home the winner in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time. That win helped AEK win the 2018 Super League title, their first since 1994.

It took 14 month for the Kitrinomavri to record another come from behind victory since that thrilling game in Piraeus. After falling behind in the 34th minute away to Xanthi, three second half goals from Marios Oikonomou (68), Ezequiel Ponce (70), and Lucas Boye (90’+3’) gave AEK an important 1:3 victory in the Pigadia.

AEK, who have struggled this season to defend their Super League crown, have fallen behind in the score on six occasions this season, without scuffing up a comeback win.
