Dimitris Melissanidis has completed a lucrative sponsorship deal for the Agia Sofia Stadium. On Thursday, reports confirmed that the AEK owner has penned a five-year deal with OPAP concerning the club’s new stadium, with the venue to be named the OPAP Arena for commercial purposes. It has been stated that the contract is worth in the region of 10 million euros.

OPAP has long been a major sponsor of AEK. The betting giant sponsors several professional sporting organisations in Greece.

The deal will officially be presented at a press-conference on July 22 at 19:00 local time.

The construction process of the Agia Sofia Stadium, which will boast a capacity of over 30,000, is gradually approaching its completion after it started in the summer of 2017. AEK will spend the 2020/2021 season at the Olympic Stadium in Marousi before moving into the Agia Sofia next year.
