APOEL have found their new coach in Norwegian manager Kare Ingebrigtsen. The 54-year-old made his name known in his native country with Rosenborg, who he coached for four seasons from 2014 to 2018. During his time at Rosenborg, he won the league championship in three consecutive seasons and the domestic double on two occasions.

He faced APOEL, led by Thomas Christiansen at the time, in 2016/17 UEFA Champions League qualifying where he led Rosenborg to a 2-1 victory in Norway, but fell by heavy 3-0 scoreline at the GSP Stadium in the return leg.

His latest job was with KV Oostende in Belgium, where he resigned from his position to take the managerial “hot seat’ at APOEL, stating, “when a team like APOEL knocks your door you cannot say no.”

Ingebrigtsen, who signed a contract until the summer of 2021, will have Loukas Hadjiloukas as his assistant. Hadjiloukas served as the interim coach at APOEL after Thomas Doll was sacked.

Ingebrigtsen’s first game in charge will be on Sunday, January 5th, at home against Enosis Neon Paralimniou.
