Damir Canadi has been Atromitos’ manager for the past two seasons, but after the 2018/2019 campaign reached its completion, the Austrian announced his departure. Giannis Anastasiou, who has previously coached the likes of Panathinaikos and Omonoia, has now penned a one-year deal to become the next Atromitos boss.

Atromitos confirmed his arrival with this following statement:

“Atromitos FC is happy to welcome Giannis Anastasiou as the new coach of our team.

On Friday afternoon, Mr. Anastasiou signed a one-year contract in the presence of Technical Director, Mr. Giannis Angelopoulos.

The official presentation of our new coach will take place on Wednesday, June 19 2019 with Atromitos FC owner, Mr. Giorgos Spanos.”

Anastasiou, 46, commented on his new job in Peristeri: “I am very happy to join such a well-organised and structured team as Atromitos. In recent years, the team has celebrated many successes which include playing in Europe. An important aspect of Atromitos isn’t just the administration’s seriousness, but also the the presence of our fans who give great impetus to the players and management. We want them to be with us next season so that we can achieve our goals.”

As head coach, Anastasiou has managed Panathinaikos, Roda JC, KV Kortrijk and Omonoia. He won the 2013/2014 Greek Cup with Panathinaikos and was last in charge of Omonoia between November 2018 and May 2019.
