The high-flying Thanasis Antetokounmpo has been named the Greek Basket League’s Most Spectacular Player for the 2017/2018 season, the Hellenic Basketball Clubs Association (HEBA) has revealed.
 
Antetokounmpo, who is nicknamed the Elevator because of his ability to pull-off incredible dunks, earned the most votes from coaches, team captains, media professionals, and fans to earn the honour for the first time in his career.
 
Fellow Panathinaikos teammate James Gist, former Rethymno Cretan Kings high-flier Stefan Moody, and former Lavrio guard McKenzie Moore all finished as runners-up to Antetokounmpo in the combined voting totals.
 
After spending the previous season in Andorra, Antetokounmpo joined Panathinaikos last summer and played an important role in Panathinaikos’ run to the Basket League Finals where the Trifylli successfully defended their league title.
 
This marks the second season in a row that a Panathinaikos player has received the award after Mike James was named the Most Spectacular Player for the 2016/2017 season.
