At the Makareio Stadium in Nicosia, Olympiakos hosted Apollon with both teams looking for the three points. The visitors were the better side at the start but had an in-form Pavol Bajza between Olympiakos’ sticks to keep Apollon off the scoresheet. Apollon’s pressure paid off, though, as they opened the scoring in the 44th minute when Giannis Gianniotas sent the cross from the left, and Emilio Zelaya found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. His maker on Sunday was his last in an Apollon shirt as his transfer to Saudi Arabia was imminent.

The second half started slow, however, Apollon managed to double their lead in the 60th minute as Serge Gakpe beat Bajza with a close-range strike. Apollon did not have a problem holding onto their two-goal lead, while Olympiakos failed to pose a threat in attack. The result moves Apollon into third place, and they sit seven points behind leaders Anorthosis. Olympiakos, on the other hand, remain in eighth.

Doxa visited the Tasos Markou Stadium in Paralimni with hopes of moving away from the bottom of the table, however, the local side did not grant them that wish. Within just four minutes of play, Paralimni found the breakthrough. Nicolas Varela dribbled through Doxa’s defense and gave the assist to Dimitris Theodorou, who beat Armin Gremsl. Paralimni had the upper hand throughout the first half and almost doubled their lead before half-time, but Gremsl came up big to stop a strong effort by Onisiforos Rousias.

Doxa improved in the second half and hoped to get back into the game. Paralimni, on the other hand, retreated and looked to strike on the counter. Time did not help Doxa as they failed to create any real threats, with Rousias missing another chance to seal the game for the hosts.

Paralimni’s early goal was enough in the end as they celebrated a win of great importance and moved three points clear of Doxa. Paralimni are just two points away from the safety zone while Doxa continue to sit bottom of the table with relegation becoming more of a reality.
