Apollon finally get first win

Apollon Smyrnis finally celebrated their first win of the season on Sunday after seeing off Xanthi 1-0 at the Georgios Kamaras Stadium in an ill-tempered Matchday 14 clash.

Thomas Jaguaribe scored the only goal of the game in the 59th minute to clinch a long-awaited three-point haul for Babis Tennes’ men, who have now given their fans some hope in what has been a woeful campaign so far.

A total of 10 yellow cards were dished out during the match which saw few clear cut chances but plenty of tasty tackles and niggly fouls.

The result moves Apollon on to five points, but they remain bottom of the table and are still six points away from safety, while Xanthi remain unmoved in eighth spot.
