Apollon Smyrni return to winning ways under Tennes

Under new manager Babis Tennes, Apollon Smyrni defeated Ergotelis 0-2 in Friday’s Super League 2 action.

Babis Tennes began his fifth (!) stint as head coach of Apollon Smyrni in winning fashion as the Elafria Taxiarchia defeated Ergotelis 0-2 in Crete in the opening fixture of matchday 12 in the Super League 2. The visitors were the better team in the opening half and rightfully took a one-goal lead into the break as Thomas’ 28th-minute strike put the visitors ahead. 

Ergotelis improved after the restart and had chances to pull level, but failed to find the back of the net. Two minutes from time, though, Apollon Smyrni put the game away as they were awarded a penalty, and Thomas stepped up to register his second goal of the game.

The result moves Apollon Smyrnis into second place with 23 points, four points behind leaders PAS Giannina, while Ergotelis remain in fourth with 19 points.
