ARIS 80-86 PANIONIOS

Panionios earned their second win against a Thessaloniki club in as many weeks, defeating Aris by six points on the road.

The Panthers have now won four out of their last eight Basket League games.

Initially, Panionios fell behind by the one point in the first period, but they came roaring back with confident wins in both the second and third quarters.

Dimitris Verginis took a leading role for Panionios with a large 21 points. Anthony Lee tallied a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Struggling Aris have conceded eight defeats in their most recent nine matches.

IONIKOS NIKAIA 100-95 PERISTERI

Peristeri’s away struggles in the Basket League continue. Previously, Peristeri had conceded two successive losses to Promitheas and Aris in the league, before they came up short against Ionikos Nikaia in Palaio Faliro on Saturday afternoon.

In the end, two overtime periods were required at the Sofia Befon Indoor Hall, with Ionikos Nikaia eventually emerging victorious in a gritty, hotly contested encounter.

Ionikos Nikaia have won six games and lost four so far.

Steve Burtt scored 35 points for Ionikos Nikaia, while Yanick Moreira gained 30 points for Peristeri.

KOLOSSOS RODOU 86-88 IRAKLIS

Iraklis are starting to gain momentum. Playing with newly-founded confidence, Iraklis picked up their second win in a row this weekend, keeping Kolossos at bay on the island of Rhodes.

Interestingly, Kolossos won three of the four quarters, but a 33-20 victory in the second period proved decisive for Iraklis.

Theodoros Zaras and Jamal Shuler both scored 17 points for the Thessaloniki-based organisation.

Kolossos have lost three out of their last four matches.

PROMITHEAS 77-66 LAVRIO

On matchday nine, Promitheas came up short against AEK in Athens, but they got back to winning ways with an 11-point victory over Lavrio at home.

Promitheas immediately put themselves in the box seat by winning the first period 24-18 and the second 22-11. To their credit, Lavrio did win the concluding two quarters, but it wasn’t enough to salvage the game.

Chase Fieler was the top scorer for Promitheas with 18 points on the board.

LARISA 82-65 RETHYMNO CRETAN KINGS

In a match between two strugglers, Larisa came out on top at home against the Rethymno Cretan Kings, earning an important 82-65 victory.

The home team made a positive start by claiming the first and second quarters by a combined total of 52-31. Fighting back, Rethymno won the third frame by seven points, but the match was done as a contest.

Nontas Papantoniou scored 17 points for the winners.

ARIS 72-59 PERISTERI

What a way for Aris to get back to winning ways. Without a victory since matchday one, Aris shone against high-flying Peristeri in Thessaloniki, restricting their opponents to 59 points as they deservedly earned a vital triumph.

Lefteris Bochoridis gained 27 points for the home team.

This was only Peristeri’s second setback of the Basket League season.
