As previously reported on AGONAsport, Aris ran into trouble during the winter as a result of debts owed to former players, with FIFA even introducing a transfer ban. It was ruled that Diogo Siston, Cristian Portilla and Javier Umbides, who all used to play for Aris in the past, were owed a combined total exceeding one million euros by the organisation.

Nevertheless, despite that issue, it has subsequently been confirmed that Aris will be granted a licence to participate in UEFA tournaments in the 2020/2021 campaign. Aris, finishing in sixth place of the Super League regular season, are set to compete in the UEFA Europa League next season for the second consecutive year.

UEFA concerns the case as pending as a consequence of FIFA having not reached a final conclusion. A punishment of exclusion from continental competitions can only be dished out if a club has been deemed guilty and hasn’t cleared its name.

Aris have already made payments to the players in question and have promised to clear all debts.

Furthermore, Aris have announced that the share capital has been increase by two million:

“During a meeting between the Board of Directors of Aris FC, it was decided to increase the share capital by 2 million euros.”

Aris president, Theodoros Karypidis, will cover the cost in full.
