Having lost 1-0 at home to Panathinaikos in their last outing Atromitos were eager to please their home fans at the Peristeri Municipal Stadium, and they did so in some style with goals from Giorgos Manousos, Apostolos Vellios, Clark N’Sikulu and Javier Umbides completing a comprehensive victory.

It was a much-needed with for Yiannis Anastasiou’s inconsistent team, who have experienced a Jekyll and Hyde type syndrome with their results and form so far this season.

The win moves them up to level in seventh place with Aris with 11 points, and they will be looking to kick on from here and get their season back on track if they are to repeat last season’s achievement of a fourth-place finish.

For Panionios, it doesn’t rain it simply pours. The Nea Smyrni club are rock-bottom of the standings and are stuck on -2 points.

At the Kleanthis Vikelidis stadium in Thessaloniki, new coach Michael Oenning earned his second win in as many games as first-half goals from Bruno Gama (27) and Ideye Brown (32) proved enough to see off Panetolikos.

The season is unfolding woefully for Panetolikos, with the Agrinio side second from bottom in the table with just two points collected from their first eight games and alarm bells are ringing loudly in the city.

Coach Makis Chavos has it all to do if he is to turn their fortunes around - starting with their next match at home against Asteras Tripolis.
