Bakasetas, Pavlidis score in cup competitions

By scoring a penalty, Tasos Bakasetas helped Alanyaspor progress in the Turkish Cup, while Vangelis Pavlidis hit the target in a Dutch Cup defeat to Heerenveen.

Leading 3-1 from the first leg against Kasimpasa, Alanyaspor did initially fall two goals down on the road, but Bakasetas successfully converted a penalty in the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time to get his team on the board.

Bakasetas played the entire 90 minutes as Alanyaspor did eventually progress to the quarter-finals of the Turkish Cup by winning the tie 5-4.

Manolis Siopis also remained on the pitch for the full game.

In the Netherlands, young striker Pavlidis hit the target in the Last 16 of the Dutch Cup against Heerenveen away from home, but Willem II subsequently crashed out of the competition on penalties after the match ended level at 2-2.

Pavlidis, who opened the scoring in the 20th minute of play, picked up an injury 18 minutes later and was replaced by Marios Vrousai. 

Vrousai contrived to miss a penalty in the ensuing shootout.
