Bamberg retire Zisis’ No. 6 jersey

Brose Bamberg paid tribute to their former point guard, Nikos Zisis, with a jersey retirement ceremony in Germany on Saturday night.

Former Brose Bamberg point guard, Nikos Zisis, got a proper send-off from the German side as the Greek international’s number six jersey was retired by the Basketball Bundesliga side.

Nearly two months after announcing his departure from the club, Zisis was on hand at the Brose Arena for a special night that also marked the 50th anniversary of the Basketball Bundesliga.

Zisis, who signed a two-year deal with Spanish side Joventut Badalona in July, spent the last four seasons in Bamberg and helped guide the club to two Bundesliga titles.

Zisis was also instrumental in two BBL-Pokal runs, including last year’s campaign in which Bamberg clinched their fifth all-time cup triumph with an 83-82 defeat of ALBA Berlin courtesy of a dagger three-pointer from Zisis.

Zisis thanked his former team for the honour via a post on Instagram, where he also took time to acknowledge his former teammates from his four years with the club.
