Panathinaikos’ indifferent SuperLeague form continued on Saturday with a lacklustre display against Lamia which ended in the Greens being held to a 1-1 draw.

Marinos Ouzounidis´s team had to chase the game after going a goal behind during a poor performance in the first half in which a calamitous own goal by Swedish defender Niklas Hult put the home side ahead.

The visitors did finally manage to get their act together in a one-sided second half, pulling level five minutes from time through striker Guillermo Molins. It was a case of too little too late though as the struggling Athens club had to settle for a point.

Although the result moved PAO up to seventh place with 10 points after eight games, they remain five points adrift of leaders PAOK, who are in action tomorrow against Olympiacos in the big derby clash of Matchday 8.

Not for the first time this season, the Greens produced a poor display and fell behind in the 37th minute, although the goal came about in very unfortunate circumstances. Lamia defender Stavros Vasilantonopoulos fired a shot on goal following a corner which Niklas Hult headed off the line.

However, the unlucky Swede saw the ball come back to him off team-mate Ousmane Coulibaly and bounce off his legs and into the net.

Molins came to the rescue for Ouzounidis´ under-performing team, however, with his equaliser in the 85th minute, and almost pinched a late winner in added time but was denied by the woodwork.
