Tassos Boulmetis’ iconic new film, “1968,” made its debut on the big screen on Tuesday night, with several stars turning out to see a movie that speaks so much about Greek history.

The Pallas Theater in Athens played host to many who attended the premiere of “1968,” with the likes of Dimitris Melissanidis (owner of AEK Football Club), Giorgos Vassiliadis (Deputy Minister of Culture and Sports), and Antonis Samaras (former Prime Minister of Greece) among those in attendance for the premiere.

Focused around the success of the 1968 AEK basketball team and the team’s run through the FIBA European Cup Winners' Cup, the film also captures the state of Greece in 1968.

“1968” is set for a public release in Greece on 25 January. Although there is a desire to bring the movie to select theatres abroad, no foreign releases have been planned as of yet.
