The Super League released this following statement:

“At today’s meeting, Leonidas Boutsikaris was elected the President of the Super League Board of Directors, and Katia Koxenoglou was elected the Vice-President.

“The Board of Directors approved the schedule for playoff and playout matches from the fourth round of games to the seventh.”

Boutsikaris is currently the vice-president of Panathinaikos.

Panathinaikos, PAOK, AEK, OFI, Panetolikos, Xanthi, Lamia and Volos NFC all voted in favour of Boutsikaris becoming the new Super League president, while AE Larissa, Olympiacos, Aris, Panionios and Atromitos gave their respective votes to Alexis Kougias. The controversial AEL president subsequently labelled it a “black day for Greek football” after the election ended.

Tension between Kougias and Panathinaikos owner Giannis Alafouzos was witnessed in the meeting.

Asteras Tripolis abstained from voting.

Boutsikaris replaces Minas Lysandrou at the helm of the Super League. Lysandrou, the AEK vice-president, earned plenty of plaudits for his work as president during the 2019/2020 campaign.
