It was the Nick Calathes Show in Kaliningrad. Producing a vintage performance, the 30-year-old equalised in the last knockings of regulation time with a three-pointer, before he forced Mike James into travelling with superb defence in the dying seconds of play. Calathes tallied a grand total of 22 points, 17 assists and six rebounds in Russia.

The match was played in Kaliningrad instead of Moscow due to the Megasport Arena currently being used for festive shows.

Panathinaikos previously beat CSKA in Russia in the 2018/2019 regular season.

After 17 rounds, Panathinaikos occupy sixth position of the EuroLeague table with an 10-7 record, while CSKA are one place above at 11-6.

Mitoglou also enjoyed a night to remember with 25 points and 16 rebounds, setting a number of personal records in the process:

Ex-Panathinaikos star, Mike James, scored 30 points for CSKA.

Next week, Panathinaikos travel to Olimpia Milano for another tricky test, while CSKA face Bayern Munich on the road.

THE MATCH

Panathinaikos quickly showed that they meant business in Kaliningrad.

Although they lost the first period 22-17, the Athenians were playing with confidence, and they subsequently took the second stanza 32-23 to forge a four-point advantage after the opening 20 minutes of play.

In what was a tight game throughout, it eventually went down to the last couple of plays in the fourth quarter. Trailing by three, Panathinaikos pulled level in the concluding seconds, as Calathes drained a clutch attempt from behind the arc:
