Calathes second in all-time EuroLeague assists 

Panathinaikos suffered an emphatic defeat to CSKA Moscow at the OAKA Indoor Hall on Thursday, but Nick Calathes did move up to second in the list of all-time EuroLeague assists.

During the first quarter of play against CSKA, Calathes moved into second place of the all-time EuroLeague assist ranking, overtaking Panathinaikos legend Dimitris Diamantidis:

Calathes, 31, finished the game with seven assists and now boasts a grand total of 1260 in 211 EuroLeague appearances. Only Vassilis Spanoulis, who is recovering from an injury with Olympiacos, boasts more in EuroLeague history with 1516 to his name.

In addition to his seven assists, Calathes scored 10 points against CSKA, but he couldn’t prevent Panathinaikos from conceding a huge 97-66 loss to the reigning champions in Athens. The Athenians, currently in the midst of a miserable four-game losing streak, hold a 14-14 record in sixth position of the regular season standings.
