Chania defeat Levadiakos to move into top-six

Chania defeated Levadiakos 2-0 in Monday’s Super League 2 action to move into the top-six of the standings.

Chania recorded a vital win in the final fixture of matchday nine in the Super League 2 as they took down Levadiakos 2-0 at home. 

The hosts opened the scoring on the half-hour mark when Angoua was unlucky to send the ball into his own net. Levadiakos increased their pressure after the restart, and their best chance of the game fell to Ioannidis in the 78th minute, but his header was kept out by Koutzavasilis. 

Against the run of play, Chania secured the three points in the second minute of stoppage time when Vrettos produced a fantastic strike that found the back of the net to give the visitors a 2-0 victory. 

The result moves Chania into the top-six with 14 points as they trail the pack of second-placed teams (Karaiskakis, Apollon Larissa, Apollon Smyrni) by just three points. Levadiakos, who were hoping to contest promotion this season, have dropped to ninth place with only 11 points from nine matches.
