Chania snatch all three points in Patras

A last-minute goal snatched all three points for FC Chania at Panachaiki in the concluding game of matchday eight of the Super League 2.

In what was a tight, tense contest between two evenly-matched teams, clear opportunities were at a premium. During the first half, Panachaiki had an ideal free-kick chance directly on the edge of the penalty area, but the ensuing shot stuck a Chania defender.

The match supposedly had 0-0 written all over it, but with the final whistle fast approaching, Chania struck with a late blow.

Following a set piece from the right wing, the ball broke free inside the Panachaiki box, and Vangelis Andreou reacted quickest to turn it under the goalkeeper and into the net.

As a result of this victory, Chania move up to seventh position of the Super League 2 standings, trailing fifth-placed Panachaiki by the one point.

Panachaiki will face struggles Apollon Pontou on the road next week, while Chania host Levadiakos.
