Counting the Stars: Details revealed about upcoming Panathinaikos film

Details have emerged about the upcoming Panathinaikos BC film that is being produced to document the club’s rise to glory domestically and abroad.

A report published by to10.gr has revealed some interesting details about the upcoming Panathinaikos BC film, a project that is being fully-funded by team owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos.

The report has shed some light on the stars set to feature in the film, as well as the working title for the film ‘Counting the Stars’ referring to the club’s run of six EuroLeague titles between 1996 and 2011.

Argyris Pantazaras, who stars in the Greek TV series “Kokkino Potami” (English: “Red River”), revealed in an Instagram post that he has been cast to star as Dimitris Giannakopoulos. Pantazaras also revealed that Danis Katranidis will play the role of Giannakopoulos’ father, the late Pavlos Giannakopoulos.

No details have been released as of yet about who has been cast to star as the late Thanasis Giannakopoulos or any of the iconic members of those Panathinaikos teams, such as Dimitris Diamantidis or head coach Zeljko Obradovic.

The film, which is being directed by Christos Dimas, began filming in November with the first screening expected to come at the end of 2020.
