Dates announced for PAOK’s matches against Basel
 

The dates for PAOK’s fixtures against Basel in the UEFA Champions League were announced on Friday.

On Tuesday, PAOK were drawn to play against FC Basel 1893 in the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round. PAOK will host the Swiss giants on July 24th at the Toumba stadium (20:30 GR time, 13:30 EST) in the first leg before travelling to Switzerland on August 1st for the second leg matchup (21:00 GR time, 14:00 EST).

Similar to last season, the UEFA Champions League qualifying process is split up into a Champions Route, teams that won their respective league titles, and the League Route, consisting of teams that did not become champions of their countries. As Greece’s runners-up, PAOK are in the League Route, while Greek champions AEK Athens will begin their journey in the third qualifying round in the Champions Route. If PAOK manage to beat Basel, they will be seeded in the third qualifying round draw, meaning the team could be drawn against a theoretically “weaker” opponent. In addition, progression to the third qualifying round will assure PAOK of at least a place in the UEFA Europa League group stages.
