Apollon Pontou defeated Volos NFC 1:0 on Sunday to hand the leaders their second defeat of the season. Georgiadis’ first half stoppage time goal separated the sides at the final whistle as the visitors ended the game with nine men after Dedakis (74) and Oungialidis (81) where shown straight red cards. The result moves Apollon Pontou tied for fourth with Kerkyra on 30 points while Volos NFC maintained an eleven point cushion over second placed Apollon Larissas.

In the most anticipated match of the weekend, Panachaiki defeated second placed Apollon Larissas 1:0. An early goal from the penalty spot from Eleftheriadis (2) gave the Patra side a much needed three points, which moves them into third place with 31 points, two points behind the Thessaly club.

Iraklis’ struggles in the second division continued as they fell 1:0 on the road to bottom of the table Aiginiakos. Granados scored the game’s only goal in the 35th minute as Aiginiakos moved up to 13 points. Iraklis remain middle of the table with 23 points.

Drama and Platanias shared the points in a four-goal thriller, a result which benefits neither side. Cruz opened the scoring for Drama in the 28th minute before two goals in quick succession from Karagounis (59) and Miguel (64) saw Platanias take the lead. However, Makris’ spot kick six minutes from the end saw the teams share the points. Platanias sit in sixth place with 29 points while Doxa Dramas are tenth with 23 points.

Ergotelis and Sparti played to a 1:1 draw, however Sparti are expected to forfeit the game after a 78th minute substitution saw the Laconia side play with six Greek players instead of seven. Sparti will likely lose the match 3:0 and be deducted points for breaking the Football League’s rules, which will likely result in relegation for the club who currently sit second from last in the standings.

In other action, AOX Kissamikos defeated Trikala 1:0 while Karaiskakis took down Irodotos by the same scoreline. Aittitos Spaton recorded the most surprising result of the weekend after defeating Kerkyra 0:2 on the road. The result sees Kerkyra move down to fourth along with Apollon Pontou with 30 points.
