AEK 84-96 BANDIRMA (GROUP B)

All of a sudden, completely out of the blue, AEK have hit a rock patch in the Basketball Champions League.

On Tuesday, the Kitrinomavri conceded their second successive defeat in the competition, and both of those losses have been suffered at the OAKA Indoor Hall. AEK now hold a 7-4 record in the competition as they still sit in the qualification slots.

AEK, slow out of the traps, lost all of the first three periods to dig themselves a big hole. In the fourth quarter, they did attempt a comeback of sorts, but Bandirma comfortably saw the game out to claim a big win in Athens. Keith Langford was the top scorer for AEK with 27 points.

Next week, AEK will aim to get back to winning ways on the road against Burgos, while Bandirma host Vechta.

PAOK 77-84 DIJON (GROUP D)

Last week, PAOK gave their faint playoff hopes a boost with a dramatic victory against Neptunas Klaipeda on the road, but they subsequently contrived to concede a seven-point loss to Dijon in Thessaloniki on Wednesday.

PAOK remain in sixth place of the group with four wins in 11 games. Dijon, however, occupy first position with an 8-3 record.

Adam Smith notched 17 points for the Dikefalos tou Vorra.

On matchday 12, PAOK will face NBB away from home, while Dijon welcome Zaragoza to France.

NIZHNY NOVGOROD 82-76 PERISTERI (GROUP C)

Over in Russia, Peristeri couldn’t emerge victorious against Nizhny Novgorod, as the home team held off their Greek opponents to secure an important victory.

With 11 rounds in the books, Peristeri sit in fourth position of the group with six victories and five defeats, while Nizhny Novgorod are one place above with seven wins.

In what was a closely contested encounter, the visitors had a realistic chance to win after claiming the third quarter 25-17, but Nizhny Novgorod were superior in the fourth frame as they won it 20-13. William Hatcher (14), Steven Gray (15 points) and Yanick Moreira (18 points) all produced productive performances for Peristeri.

Peristeri will play against Mornar Bar at home next week. Nizhny Novgorod will travel to Nymburk.

PROMITHEAS WIN IN EUROCUP

In the EuroCup, Promitheas earned their maiden win in the second group stage of the competition, beating Oldenburg 81-70 in Patras in Group F.

Promitheas had conceded defeat to Brescia in Italy last week.

The Greeks will look to gain momentum in the tournament when they take on Venezia at home on matchday three.
