Derbies Are Nice, But Now it is Time for the ETHNIKI

It has been an entertaining month in the Greek Superleague with multiple derbies and big surprises, but that is all in the past and it is now time to turn our attention to the Greek National Team.

Greece will be in action again for World Cup qualifying for the first time since November, where they earned a draw against Bosnia-Herzegovina with a thrilling last minute rocket from Georgios Tzavellas. The result kept Greece in second place of  group H, two points behind the leaders Belgium and three points clear of third placed Bosnia.

On Saturday, Greece will have their toughest test in qualifying as they travel to Belgium to face the world’s fifth best team (based on FIFA rankings) which consists of many world class players. That being said, the players of our National Team are in good spirits and truly believe they can get something from the match.

The players met up on Monday and will have their first training session on Tuesday as they prepare for the crucial qualifier. Skibbe announced Greece’s 24-man roster last week and can be found here.
