On Tuesday, the EuroLeague confirmed that Diamantidis is a member of the All-Decade Team of the competition:

Diamantidis, now 39, is rightly considered a legend of the Greek game. One of the best guards ever to grace the EuroLeague, he won the competition in 2007, 2009 and 2011 with Panathinaikos, where he spent the vast majority of his career. Diamantidis was also named the Most Valuable Player of the Final Four in 2007 and 2011.

In 2011, Diamantidis became the first player in EuroLeague history to be crowned both the MVP and Best Defender of the tournament, as he fired Panathinaikos to the title with an exciting victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the grand final. He was named to the All-EuroLeague First Team in 2007, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Diamantidis retired in 2016.

Between 2010 and 2020, Diamantidis tallied 867 assists and 204 assists for Panathinaikos in the competition, standing out with his ability to both defend and attack brilliantly.

“First of all, it was a great honour for me to be a part of that team,” said Diamantidis when speaking to the EuroLeague about winning the Final Four in 2011. “Personally, it was a good year as I earned many individual titles, but the main thing was winning the EuroLeague. Panathinaikos had experienced playing in the Final Four, our coach was one of the best, and he knew how to prepare the team. For me, the EuroLeague is the best and most difficult organisation to play in, I think that all players want to play there. It was a great pleasure to play in the EuroLeague.”
