This season, Donis managed to score five goals and dish out three assists in 26 Bundesliga appearances, but Stuttgart still suffered relegation after losing to Union Berlin in the playoffs. Predictably, the 22-year-old isn’t overly keen on playing in the Bundesliga-2, and there is a strong possibility a different club will opt to activate his release clause from Stuttgart which reportedly amounts to 15 million euros.

According to sport24.gr, an unnamed Russian club is willing to pay 15 million in order to sign Donis this summer, while offering the Greek international striker a large contract worth 2.5 million per-year. However, it remains to be seen whether Donis agrees to play in Russia instead of remaining in one of Europe’s leading championships.

Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach have also expressed interest in Donis, and if they match the player’s monetary demands of at least 1.5 million a year, it is likely that he will stay in Germany. Transfermarkt rates Donis’ value at four million.

His contract at VfB Stuttgart is due to expire in June 2021.
