Doxa Drama stun Platanias in Chania

Doxa Drama came away with a surprising 1-3 win in Chania against Platanias in Friday’s Super League 2 action.

Platanias’ hopes for promotion to the Super League received a set back on Friday evening as the Cretan side where handed a 1-3 defeat at the hands of Doxa Drama. After a goalless 42 minutes of play, the hosts struck first with Nili finding the back of the net, but his goal was quickly canceled out by Rova’s maker just before the half-time whistle.

Platanias had multiple opportunities to restore their lead but their chances went begging and it was the visitors who capitalized with 15 minutes to go as Kritikos netted home what would be the eventual match-winner. The Macedonian side locked up the victory in second half stoppage time with Ioannidis converting a penalty to give his side a 1-3 victory in Chania.

The result moves Doxa Drama up to nine points along with Panachaiki (tied for fourth) while Platanias are in third with 10 points. Matchday six of the Super League 2 will continue on Sunday and conclude on Monday evening.
