As a result of forfeiting three matches in the controversial 2018/2019 season, Olympiacos were sentenced to relegation to the second tier by the Hellenic Basketball Federation. In response, Olympiacos revealed that academy prospects will compete in the Second Division, while the seniors only play in the EuroLeague. Olympiacos also stated the team in the Second Division will compete under a different name and play at the training arena of the Peace and Friendship Stadium.

On Monday, the schedule for the 2019/2020 Second Division was made, with Olympiacos set to begin their season at home to AO Triton on October 5. 30 rounds will take place in the regular season.

Serbian prospect Aleksej Pokusevski, who played in a handful of matches for the senior team last season, is expected to be the leading player for Olympiacos in the Second Division. The Erythrolefki are currently scanning the transfer market in order to fill the roster.

DRAW MADE FOR GREEK CUP

Panathinaikos and Promitheas, the teams which clashed in the 2018/2019 Basket League final, have been drawn against each other in the quarter-finals of the Greek Cup. The match will be played on November 10 in Patras.

In late September, Olympiacos will play against either Komotini or Ermis Lagada in the second phase of the competition. If the Erythrolefki win that game, they will then play the winner of the Penteli - Anatolia pair in the next stage, and the first Basket League team which Olympiacos can face is Ermis Agias Larissa. Olympiacos will play PAOK in the quarter-finals if they reach that stage.
