Last week, Aris famously ended PAOK’s 51-game unbeaten streak in the Super League with an impressive 4-2 victory, but they failed to impress in Larissa as the visitors barely created a chance. AEL, for their part, had the best opportunities during a dull encounter, however they have to be content with just a point.

As a result of this draw, Aris move down to fifth place of the standings, tied on 26 points with Xanthi who defeated Volos NFC on the road. AEL occupy seventh spot with 23 points on the board.

Next week, AEL face the tough trip to AEK, while Aris travel to league leaders Olympiacos.

The first half at the AEL FC Arena saw very few chances created. In the 20th minute, Amr Warda had a promising opening, but his ensuing shot was comfortably saved by an alert Julian Cuesta.

Interestingly, Aris had the majority of possession in the maiden 45 minutes of play, but they didn’t threaten the opposing goal.

The action picked up in the second half. Charging forward, Bruno Gama narrowly missed the target for Aris, before Ergys Kace was denied by a sprawling Cuesta save.

There were two more opportunities wasted in the closing minutes. After beating Lindsay Rose for skill, Nikos Karanikas saw his attempt stopped by Cuesta, and Giannis Fetfatzidis then headed wide for the away side.
