Efford fires Ergotelis to victory over Apollon Larissa

Joseph Efford’s first-half goal was enough for Ergotelis to beat Apollon Larissa 1-0 at home in Friday’s Super League 2 action.

Efford won the match for Ergotelis with a special goal in the 36th minute of play. Bursting forward on the left flank, the American created a shooting opportunity for himself, subsequently firing a powerful effort beyond the opposing goalkeeper and into the left corner. 

Initially, Apollon Larissa had made a positive start in Heraklion, with a long-range attempt being tipped over the crossbar.

Nevertheless, Ergotelis eventually grew into the game, and Efford’s goal rewarded their spell of pressure.

Ergotelis managed to control the tempo of the match in the second half. In the closing stages, the visitors did press as they searched for an equaliser, but they failed to create a number of clear scoring chances.

As a result of this result, Ergotelis now occupy fourth place of the Super League 2 standings with 28 points from 17 games, while Apollon Larissa possess one point less in seventh position.
