Ergotelis handed Panachaiki their first defeat of the season as the Cretan side prevailed by a 2-1 scoreline in the opening fixture of matchday seven in the Super League 2.

The hosts got off to a great start as Rovithis powered home a shot that was set up with a pinpoint through pass from Grontis in the 17th minute to give Ergotelis the early 1-0 lead. Eleven minutes later, the Cretan side executed a fantastic counter attack and it was Efford who set up Kwateng for an easy tap-in to double Ergotelis’ lead.
The side from Patra managed to get back into the game late in the first half with Moraitis (42) cutting the deficit in half with a well-placed strike from inside the penalty area.
Both teams had chances to score after the restart, however, the second half ended goalless and Ergotelis held on for an important 2-1 victory. The result moves Ergotelis up to fourth along with Cretan rivals Platanias on 10 points while Panachaiki remain in third with 12 points and miss out on a chance to go top of the table.
Matchay seven action in the Super League 2 will continue on Saturday and end on Monday evening.
