Last week, Ergotelis did suffer a disappointing 2-0 home loss to Apollon Smyrnis in Heraklion, but they got back on track in Chania with an impressive 4-2 victory against a Platanias side which is yet to win in 2020.

Platanias’ haven’t won a Super League 2 game since defeating Apollon Larissa 2-1 at home in late December.

At the moment, Ergotelis occupy third spot of the table with 22 points, but Karaiskakis, Levadiakos and Apollon Larissa do all have a game in hand. Platanias sit in eighth position with 17 points on the board.

In the 32nd minute of play, Ergotelis made the breakthrough in Chania, as Manolis Rovithis successfully converted a penalty.

Not long later, Giannis Boutsakis doubled the advantage for the away side, prodding a deflected cross beyond the goalkeeper.

Ergotelis seemed to be cruising. However, in the 58th minute, Leira Dos Santos halved the deficit for Platanias with a powerful drive from long range which flew into the left corner.

Unfortunately for Platanias, though, Ergotelis soon put themselves in the box seat again, as the ball cruely cannoned off defender Konstantinos Tsamouris after the goalkeeper had made the initial save.

American forward Joseph Efford sealed the win for Ergotelis in stoppage time with a neat finish from inside the box.

Moments later, Giannis Loukinas headed in a consolation for Platanias, but it didn’t affect the overall outcome.
