After a controversial week and a half in the Basket League, the organizing body released the schedule for the first round of the playoffs. The first round will be split into two ‘doses’ as three matches will take place on one day and the derby of the eternal enemies between Panathinaikos and Olympiacos will take place on its own day.

The playoffs will tip-off with its first ‘dose’ of three matches on Saturday May 18th, AEK/Holargos, Peristeri/Ifaistos Limnou, and Promitheas/PAOK while Panathinaikos will host Olympiacos two days later in game one of their series.

On Wednesday May 23rd, game two will take place for the three pairs and Olympiacos will host Panathinaikos on Friday. If any of the first ‘dose’ series are forced to a game three, they will be played next Saturday May 25th while a possible game three between the Prasini and the Erythrolefki will be held on Monday, May 27th.

The game one referees for the four matches will be announced on Friday. It is still uncertain if Olympiacos will compete in the playoffs as they demand foreign referees for all matches against Panathinaikos, something that was not granted by the Hellenic Basketball Federation (EOK). However, according to the rulebooks, if Olympiacos do not show up for the playoff matches, they will be automatically relegated to the A2 Basket League for next season.
