So far, it’s been a rather inconsistent campaign for Aris, who currently sit in fourth place of the Super League table with 26 points from 19 matches. Initially, Aris began the season under the leadership of Savvas Pantelidis, but he left after a poor start. Michael Oenning is now in charge as he aims to at least qualify for the UEFA Europa League preliminary rounds for the second consecutive season.

However, their hopes of finishing in the top four have taken a hit, with FIFA punishing Aris with an immediate transfer ban because of outstanding debts owed to former players.

The players in question are Diogo Siston, Cristian Portilla and Javier Umbides. The debts exceed one million euros.

According to reports, Aris are hopeful of having the transfer ban lifted shortly, with the club claiming that another team owes the players money instead. Nevertheless, the case is still ongoing, as the lawyers of Aris supremo Theodoros Karipidis continue to deal with the worrying situation. Aris are eager to receive permission from FIFA to sign players during the winter transfer window.

FIFA will lift the ban as soon as the organisation has proof that Aris do not owe the players anything.

At the same time, there is confusion surrounding the state of play concerning Fjorin Durmishaj, who was subsequently banned from playing for Aris after transferring from Olympiacos. Days after signing with Aris, the Greek-Albanian forward did appear as a substitute in the 4-2 triumph over PAOK at the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium, but his player card was then revoked. Aris are expecting the mess to clear up soon so that the 23-year-old can return to action as normal.

Also, in addition, an ugly situation has arisen with Alex Menendez, with video footage shared by FIFPro suggesting that Aris have been treating the 28-year-old badly. Aris issued this following response:
