Greek national teams have won 15 gold medals, 15 silver medals, and 25 bronze medals in international water polo competitions. For the men’s national team, the medals that stand out the most are the two bronze medals at the World Championships (2005 and 2015). The women’s national team has seen more success in major tournaments, winning silver at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, gold at the 2011 World Championships, and silver at the European Championships on three occasions (2010, 2012 and 2018).

Greece has been more successful in junior and youth national team competitions. The Greek boys have won the World U20 Championships three times (2001, 2017 and 2019), the World U18 Championships once (2018), and the European U19 Championships once (2018). The Greek girls have won the World U20 Championships once (1997), the World U18 Championships once (2012), the European U19 Championships twice (2002 and 2014), and the European U17 Championships three times (2001, 2011 and 2013).

Of these 55 medals, 29 have come this decade. Only two came in 2019, as Greece took gold at the Men’s World U20 Championships, and took bronze at the Women’s European U15 Championships, in the inaugural edition of that competition.
