The 20,00 Panathinaikos fans created a great atmosphere at the Nick Galis Olympic Stadium in today's Euroleague Round 29 clash against Russian giants CSKA Moscow. It was a very close game with Panathinaikos holding a small lead for most of the match.

However, CSKA took a 4-point lead late in the fourth quarter (63-67), but Panathinaikos responded and retook the lead at 71-70. Teodosic then hit a critical 3-pointer with 37 seconds remaining (71-73) before Calathes brought Panathinaikos on level terms, keeping his cool from the free throw line (73-73). In the final seconds, neither team could find a winning basket and the match was sent to overtime (73-73).

In the extra period, Panathinaikos had a one point advantage at 79-78 before Rivers’ 3-pointer gave the hosts a decisive four point lead as the OAKA stadium erupted with joy. The lead was too much for CSKA to overcome with Panathinaikos celebrating an impressive 85-80 victory.

Rivers had a big game for the hosts with 17 points while Calathes finished with 12 points and 6 assists. Both James and Singleton scored 13 points. For the defending Euroleague Champions, de Colo and Teodosic finished with 15 points each.

The result, along with Fenerbahce’s loss to Real Madrid,  means Panathinaikos only need a win in the final regular season match away to Maccabi Tel-Aviv to secure home court advantage. Even with a loss to Maccabi, all Panathinaikos would need is Baskonia to defeat Zalgiris and will not have depend on what Fenerbahce does in their match. CSKA Moscow officially finish second, behind Real Madrid.
