Until Friday, there was no set date for the start of the 2018/2019 Football League season, but it’s now been confirmed that the campaign will begin on Sunday 14 October. As expected, 16 teams will participate in the championship, and a television contract for the upcoming season has been sealed.
However, due to the changes coming to the structure of the footballing system in Greece, only the winner of the 2018/2019 Football League will earn direct promotion to the Super League. The clubs in 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th positions of the 2018/2019 Football League suffer relegation to the Gamma Ethniki which will turn into the fourth level.
