As previously reported on AGONAsport, one friendly in the USA had already been confirmed by the EPO, with the Greek national team pitted against Mexico on March 29. The game will take place at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 18:00 local time.

At the moment, the EPO has not revealed which opponent Greece will face on March 26 in America, but several reports in the Greek media are heavily suggesting that the national team will compete against Costa Rica, the nation which knocked the Ethniki Omada out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in a heartbreaking penalty shootout. It’s expected that the game with Costa Rica will be played in New York.

Two months later, May 28 to be precise, the Greeks will play against the Netherlands on Dutch territory in another friendly game. The exact location is yet to be confirmed.

All of these friendly games will be held in preparation for the 2020 UEFA Nations League which will begin in September. Interestingly, the two matches in America will be played during the imminent Super League playoffs, but the EPO has issued the green light for the players to make the long journey to the US.

BALDOCK OPTION STILL OPEN

In other news, well-known English newspaper The Telegraph reported that the EPO is eager to secure the services of Sheffield United right-back George Baldock, who qualifiers to represent Greece through his Greek grandfather. Head coach of the Greek national team, John van ‘t Schip, had already expressed his desire for Baldock to play for Greece as a senior international.

Baldock himself has never openly rejected the idea of representing Greece. The 26-year-old has previously played for the Milton Keynes Dons, Northampton Town, Tamworth, IBV and Oxford United.
