Pelkas is one of PAOK’s most experienced players within the squad, having made a total of 176 appearances for the Greek champions, which includes scoring 36 goals and providing 29 assists. The attacking midfielder played a crucial part in PAOK’s quest for the double last season.

The Greek international began the season as a consistent starter in newly appointed Portuguese manager Abel Ferreira’s starting eleven. Pelkas, most comfortable playing as an attack-minded midfielder, was often played as the second striker behind either Chuba Akpom or Karol Swiderski.

In the past two seasons, Pelkas gave some of his best performances for PAOK, but this year he has attracted plenty of criticism for his disappointing displays. Struggling for form, he has lost his place in the starting line-up after receiving an injury against Aris, and his showings on the pitch haven’t suggested that he will regain his spot any time soon. Pelkas has only racked up a grand total of 41 minutes of game time since he received that injury in the game with Aris at the Toumba Stadium.

Pelkas was subsequently ignored by John van ‘t Schip when the Dutchman selected his Greek national team squad for the concluding UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Disappointing start to life with PAOK for Anderson Esiti

Defensive midfielder Anderson Esiti has struggled at PAOK after coming to the club with high aspirations.

The Nigerian was a sought-after player by numerous clubs around Europe and came to the Dikefalos tou Vorra with big expectations. Nevertheless, since transferring to Thessaloniki, he has not proved his worth.

Reports have indicated that there the PAOK management is concerned about his lack of progress. Esiti hasn’t started a game for PAOK in two months, and he’s only played in a grand total of five Super League matches so far this campaign.
